He is working to give us the strong back and the broad shoulders we need to carry on. And we know that through God’s word and His Church he will keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

What is this “catechism“? Why are we using it? How does it help me? Isn’t this just another thing that Old Dead Faith does?

we are so corrupt that we are totally unable to do any good (that can save us) and we are always leaning toward all evil. Which is exactly why we need to be made new by the Spirit of God.

For most people this is going to be an obvious answer. "Yes, I am feeling like junk" or "No, my life is pretty great".

But to wisely answer this question we must know that we have no true comfort outside of Jesus and we have to see our rebellion (our sin) and what the true end is, Misery.

That is a big promise/covenant. No human kingdom lasts forever. No people group lasts forever. Both change from one generation to the next. And might I add that there is not one from David’s line in charge right now is there? Why, yes there is.

God has always had a plan and that plan has always included every kind of people. That plan has also included giving the gift of faith so that we are able to obediently respond to call of Jesus on our lives.

Christian, while you hold fast to what is good know that Christ will hold you fast until that last day, the Advent of our Lord and Saviour Jesus.

The Apostle Peter refers to you and me as exiles with the need to be gathered and cared for. And this is just what we celebrate this time of year. That God himself, our God Shepherd, came to gather us exiles and bring us to the place we were meant to be, with him forever.

Calendars pulls us all together from our divergent seasonal and weekly experiences into a cohesive story. It unifies and creates community. It de-centres us selfish individuals and re-centres us as being in Christ and being a part of his body.
